about
Hi. I’m Aysha. 16 years old. From Baltimore, USA. I don’t blog around here anymore but feel free to poke around my archives if you find that you don’t have anything better to do.
Muslim. Pakistani-Canadian-American mishmash. In that order.
I read. I write. I sleep. I dream.
On occasion I live.I like talking about myself and making lists, so here is a list of things I like:
- Making lists
- Talking about myself
- Music: shoegaze, indie rock, post-rock, electronic ambient, chillwave, indie pop, radiohead
- Making playlists
- Writing poetry and short stories
- Keeping up with current world affairs regarding: the Middle East (especially Israel/Palestine), the Arab Spring, Pakistan, Islam, Islamic feminism, America, Obama
- Journalism. I plan to major in it and, hopefully, find a career in the field.
- Social media. By that I don’t just mean that I love Twitter and Facebook, I mean that I’m considering a minor in Communications.
- Reading fiction: J.D. Salinger, Khaled Hosseini, Lemony Snicket, J.K. Rowling, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Margaret Atwood, Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Sebold, Amy Tan, Lewis Carroll
- Some non-fiction: Malcolm Gladwell, J.M. Roberts, Mirza Tahir Ahmad
- Reading poetry: Andrea Gibson, e.e. cummings, Billy Collins, William Blake, Margaret Atwood, James Agee, Emily Dickinson, T.S. Eliot, Robert Frost, Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman
- Pretending I’m British and saying “bloody” and “bugger” and “I’m too lazy to climb stairs, where’s the sodding lift?”. Also sometimes I enjoy spelling “color” as “colour,” but I try not to do that in public.
- Complaining about the science department of my school and blaming my atrocious chemistry grades on them
